Who am i?
My name is Luke Munting and I was born in South Africa in 1998. When I was five, my family and I moved to Windhoek, Namibia which is where I grew up and discovered my love for working with metal.
When I was done with school, I decided to persue a proper blacksmithing and design education. I decided that doing an apprenticeship in Germany would be my best bet so I started working at Schmiehe Lehmann, as an apprentice to mastercraftsman, Johannes Rienhoff. I learned a lot about forging, metallurgy and various other aspects of working with different metals in a professional manner. After learning about the practical side of my craft in the apprenticeship, I decided that I still wanted to hone my skills as a designer.
Since finishing my apprenticeship, I have worked for various blacksmiths and metal designers in Germany and Austria and I have been accepted to do a BA in Design at the HAWK in Hildesheim.
