Heavy Bedside Table
This was a fun side project of mine that I made while doing my apprenticeship at Schmiede Lehmann in Hamburg. It is a forged and welded, three legged supporting stand that holds an offcutt of one of the stone steps as seen on the `Kölbrandtreppe´ in Hamburg. This staircase was restored during 2020 and I worked on the restoration of the ballistrade, along with the rest of the team at Schmiede Lehmann. The staircase was historically used by the people who worked in the Harbour back in the day to get from their homes in Altona, down to the harbour where they worked. Hundreds of people used these stairs every day and I took an offcut of one of the stairs to make this bedside table. It weighs around 40kg. Its Heavy.
